Hey everybody! We are introducing a new blog series: Kibii’s Weekly Picks! Every week we’re going to choose a new establishment and share with you why they’re great, why you should go there, and everything else you need to know.
For our first ever Kibii Weekly Pick, we have chosen Porchetta & Co. What makes Porchetta & Co. a great restaurant is primarily the food, location, and setting. The menu is relatively small (but delicious) and consists mainly of sandwiches and a few different plates.
The House Special – Standard porchetta sandwich with truffle sauce, hot sauce, and parmesan.
The Nashville Hot Chicken Lettuce – Mayo, bread & butter pickles, and white bread
Pastrami Banh Mi – Cucumber, carrots, pickled daikon, mayo, hoisin, cilantro, chilies, french Roll
O.G. Fried Chicken Sandwich – Frank’s Red Hot, lettuce, pickles, fresh herb ranch dressing
Fried Chicken Parmesan Sandwich – Tomato sauce, mozzarella, parmesan on a toasted garlic bread bun
Porchetta – Hand carved porchetta with crackling
Fried Chicken – Seasoned buttermilk fried chicken
Arancini – Rice balls stuffed with mozzarella, breaded & deep fried
Despite being called Porchetta & Co., the best sandwich on the menu is the Fried Chicken Parmesan Sandwich. That’s not to say that the porchetta isn’t good, it’s great, but these other items really do stand out. This item is a great choice for any lunchtime selection, it tastes great, and will fill you up so you won’t be hungry again within 20 minutes.
Another great selection is the O.G. Fried Chicken Sandwich. The O.G Fried chicken, although delicious is not as good as the Fried Chicken Parmesan. This is a better option if you are looking for something a little bit lighter for lunch and don’t want to fill up too much. You should be warned if you are not into spicy foods the OG might not be for you. It is loaded with Frank’s Red Hot and can have a bit too much of a kick for some people.
The Porchetta & Co. location really does add to its charm. Located in the heart of King St this establishment is a great choice for anybody looking to pop into a low-key setting for a quick sandwich. It is a very small space on the inside of the King St location with not many chairs or seats available for the patrons, but that’s all a part of the charm. In front of the store, there is a bar style table facing the sidewalk so you can people-watch while eating your lunch. Along with this, there is extra seating added on the road in the summertime, these Muskoka chairs sit parallel with the storefront seating, this is great in the summertime.
King St location hours are:
|MONDAY||11:30AM – 10:00PM|
|TUESDAY||11:30AM – 10:00PM|
|WEDNESDAY||11:30AM – 10:00PM|
|THURSDAY||11:30AM – 11:00PM|
|FRIDAY||11:30AM – 11:00PM|
|SATURDAY||11:30AM – 11:00PM|
|SUNDAY||11:30AM – 10:00PM|
545 King St West
Other locations are, at Dundas St West, Scotia Bank Arena, and the Exchange Tower.
Porchetta & Co also does catering and deliveries for any kind of office or private event. Porchetta & Co also takes Ritual orders. This is super convenient if you work in the area and need to save time around lunch (it can get really busy around lunch time and you might get stuck in line), but I guess that’s the price you pay for good food.
